Open Studio

Join us for Open Studio at Fire Escape's Mud on Main (423 N Main St), where participants may work independently on the pottery wheel or with handbuilding techniques.
Open Studio is not instructor-led.

Wheel Throwing Requirements:
Wheel throwing during Open Studio is limited to individuals who have prior wheel experience. Participants must have previously completed wheel instruction either through Mud on Main, a college course, or another formal ceramics program. Open Studio is not intended for first time wheel users and staff reserve the right to deny wheel use at their discretion.

Handbuiling:
Experience for handbuilding projects is highly recommended, though not required. Staff can provide brief instruction on pinch pots, coil building, and basic slab construction as time allows.

During Open Studio artists are welcome to create freely within staff discretion. Inspiration for projects can be found through previous classes, in-studio examples and sources. Clay creations are limited by your imagination.

You may arrive at any time during your scheduled time frame, but please be mindful of posted end times. We reserve the right to close up to one hour early if no participants are present.
